This Role is for a True Nurse Leader.Elderwood at Waverly is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) Unit Manager to lead one of our nursing units within our skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility.
This is a hands-on leadership role - ideal for a nurse who is confident in long-term care, comfortable leading teams with varying levels of experience, and committed to building consistency, accountability, and quality on the unit.

Unit Manager (RN) - Skilled Nursing
- What You’ll Lead:
- Provide 24-hour oversight of your assigned nursing unit
- Supervise, coach, and develop nursing staff — with a strong focus on CNA support and performance
- Set clear expectations for care delivery, accountability, and teamwork
- Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of resident care plans
- Monitor clinical indicators and proactively address resident needs
- Ensure high standards in documentation, infection control, and regulatory compliance
- Serve as a key point of contact for families and providers
- Communicate changes in condition and care plans clearly and professionally
- Address concerns and support service recovery when needed
- Manage daily staffing, call-ins, and scheduling needs
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and staff development
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure quality and environment standards are met
Unit Manager (RN) - Skilled Nursing -
What We’re Looking For:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- New York State - Minimum 2+ years of nursing experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) or Long-Term Care setting
- Prior leadership experience (Charge Nurse, Unit Manager, Supervisor) required
- Strong ability to lead, coach, and hold staff accountable
- Experience working with CNA teams and developing newer staff
- Confidence in handling family communication, clinical oversight, and regulatory expectations
- Experience with dementia population strongly preferred
