Position Overview

A school in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a caring, responsible, and professional School Nurse to join its team. The School Nurse will be responsible for supporting the health and well-being of students throughout the school day and responding appropriately to medical needs as they arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic nursing care to students during the school day.
  • Assess students who become sick or injured and determine appropriate next steps.
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, parental authorization, and school policies.
  • Provide first aid and respond to medical situations as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
  • Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student health concerns when appropriate.
  • Monitor students with allergies, asthma, diabetes, and other documented medical needs.
  • Maintain and organize medications, first-aid supplies, and nursing office materials.
  • Assist with health screenings and required school health documentation.
  • Follow established health, safety, confidentiality, and emergency procedures.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and healthcare providers as appropriate.
  • Help promote a safe and healthy school environment.
Qualifications
  • Previous nursing experience required.
  • School, pediatric, family medicine, or related nursing experience preferred.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred.
  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Caring, patient, responsible, and dependable.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to respond calmly and professionally to medical situations.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding student health information.
