Location: Brooklyn, NY
Compensation: $140,000–$160,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week

Position Overview

Med Staff Group is recruiting an experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner on behalf of a specialized inpatient pediatric subacute care facility in Brooklyn, NY.

The facility provides comprehensive care to medically complex children from birth through age 21. Patients may have a wide range of genetic, neurological, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, orthopedic, and developmental conditions. Each child receives an individualized care plan focused on both medical stability and rehabilitation goals.

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner will serve as a key clinical provider during the overnight shift, delivering direct patient care, responding to changes in condition, and collaborating closely with nursing, medical, respiratory, rehabilitation, and support teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments of medically complex pediatric patients

  • Review medical histories, complete physical examinations, and evaluate changes in patient condition

  • Develop differential diagnoses and evidence-based treatment plans

  • Manage acute and chronic pediatric conditions within the inpatient subacute setting

  • Prescribe and manage medications under an active New York Nurse Practitioner license

  • Respond to urgent clinical concerns and provide overnight medical coverage

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and update individualized plans of care

  • Collaborate with attending physicians and consult on complex or high-risk cases

  • Coordinate care with nursing, respiratory therapy, rehabilitation, dietary, recreation, and other clinical departments

  • Initiate referrals to specialists and outside medical providers when appropriate

  • Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and ongoing care needs

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and outcomes-focused clinical documentation

  • Participate in quality-improvement initiatives, clinical education, and staff development

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

  • Active New York State Nurse Practitioner license

  • Current national Nurse Practitioner certification

  • Current BLS certification

  • Pediatric clinical experience strongly preferred

  • PICU, pediatric critical care, pediatric emergency room, inpatient pediatric, or complex-care experience is highly preferred

  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently overnight

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills

  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career in inpatient pediatric care
