Position Summary:

At Green Fields, the Director of Nursing Services plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality nursing care to our residents. This position provides direction and oversight to the nursing department, supports and develops nursing staff, establishes standards of nursing practice, and works closely with administration, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members. The ideal candidate is an experienced nursing leader who is organized, approachable, compassionate, and confident in making decisions while maintaining a strong commitment to resident-centered care and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and oversee the overall operation and delivery of nursing services.
  • Establish, maintain, and interpret standards of nursing practice consistent with professional standards and applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing plans of care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Ensure that each resident receives appropriate nursing assessment and that an individualized nursing care plan is developed and maintained.
  • Ensure appropriate nursing coverage and staffing levels based on resident needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate coverage for all shifts.
  • Assign nursing duties consistent with each employee’s education, experience, preparation, and licensure.
  • Interview, select, orient, supervise, and evaluate licensed and registered nursing staff.
  • Complete probationary and annual performance evaluations of nursing department employees in a timely manner.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary recommendations when appropriate.
  • Support staff development and encourage employees to reach their full potential.
  • Educate and direct staff regarding the timely reporting of suspected resident abuse and suspected crimes as required by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Investigate reported allegations of abuse and report findings to administration and the appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Promote and enforce patient-centered care practices and facility policies related to resident safety and services.
  • Ensure staff are educated regarding missing resident searches, no-pass zones, responding to alarms, end-of-life care, and resident or visitor complaints and concerns.
  • Participate in facility emergency preparedness and disaster planning.
  • Review accident and incident reports and take appropriate follow-up action.
  • Review medication and treatment errors and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.
  • Make regular rounds throughout nursing units to evaluate the quality and delivery of resident care.
  • Ensure appropriate nursing discharge and transfer planning, including communication of continuing nursing care needs.
