Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Peds & Adult GI in Manhattan. We are seeking a family nurse practitioner to work within the division of pediatric gastroenterology and subspecialty programs within the division providing outpatient care to pediatric and adult patients across a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including patients with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs).

The role will include clinical care of acute and chronic GI condition, specialized EGID clinical care, participation in outpatient clinical trials, and EGID program activities. The primary practice location will be Fink Ambulatory Care Center, with secondary locations including the Clinical Research Centers in MSB and Bellevue.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides specialized outpatient care to pediatric and adult patients within the pediatric gastroenterology division including:
    • Infants, children, and adolescents with acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions.
    • Pediatric and adult patients with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders (EGIDs), including eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), in collaboration with the interdisciplinary EGID program team
  • Participates in the longitudinal management of patients with EGIDs and other chronic GI conditions, including assessment of symptoms and treatment response, review and communication of laboratory and diagnostic results, medication management, patient and family education, coordination of care, and completion of clinically appropriate school, accommodation, medication, and other patient forms and documentation.
  • Reviews and synthesizes relevant outside medical records and clinical information to support the evaluation and ongoing management of patients.
  • Participates in outpatient clinical trials involving pediatric and adult patients with EGIDs, including protocol-specific clinical assessments, physical examinations, review of clinical and laboratory findings, and identification and timely communication of adverse events, changes in medical history, concomitant medications, and other protocol-relevant clinical findings to the Principal Investigator (PI) or Sub-Investigator (Sub-I), in accordance with study protocols, institutional policies, and scope of practice.
  • Obtains and maintains required clinical and clinical research training and certifications with institutional support for obtaining additional required certifications as appropriate.
  • Supports access to prescribed therapies through clinical documentation, prior authorizations, appeals, peer-to-peer discussions, and letters of medical necessity
  • Provides clinical triage and management of patient concerns, including telephone and electronic patient communications.
