Shrub Oak International School (SOIS) is a therapeutic day and residential school for autistic children, adolescents, and young adults with complex co‑occurring conditions. Located in northern Westchester County, Shrub Oak offers unparalleled educational opportunities for autistic students in a family-centric, supportive environment. We offer a variety of programs to meet the needs of students across the spectrum, and our curriculum is based on the most advanced and successful evidence‑based clinical and academic approaches in ASD education.
As a school, SOIS maintains a smoke‑free environment to ensure the health and safety of our students, employees, and community. We are a residential school located on a scenic 127‑acre campus which includes multiple buildings and a working farm for student programming. The work environment will include both indoor and outdoor spaces.

- You have a passion for working with the autism population and ensuring the safety and well‑being of students and staff.
- You get the job done and are capable of strategic thinking while simultaneously rolling up to your sleeves to lead and teach by example.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically involving documentation, progress notes, incident reports, and other related administrative tasks.
- You are experienced with medical assessment and ability to assess and respond quickly in emergent situations.
- You have excellent analytical capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to understand, problem solve, and make sound determinations/decisions in situations with complex facts and data.
- You have the ability to multitask and make sound and appropriate decisions under pressure, where situations/circumstances are continually evolving.
- Communicate effectively, learn new skills quickly, and build strong relationships with students, peers, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Collaborate across departments and with the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to support students’ holistic physical and emotional health.
- Monitor student wellness, performs routine and as needed medical assessments, and provides crisis response and first aid, including coordination with EMS.
- Manage a medical caseload by coordinating with guardians, primary and specialist providers, pharmacies, nutritionists, and food services.
- Schedule medical, dental, vision, and lab appointments; tracks vitals; administers medications; and conducts body mark checks at admission, discharge, and after significant incidents.
- Transport students in a company vehicle to appointments as needed is required.
- Provide health education to students directly and through Direct Support Professionals to promote healthy lifestyle habits.
