About This Role

The Assistant Nurse Manager of  / Ophthalmology / Ambulatory Float Pool is a Registered Professional Nurse who serves as a clinical leader, overseeing quality patient care delivery and the daily functioning of the unit in conjunction with or in the absence of the Nurse Manager.

What You'll Do
  • Lead nursing practice using the tenets of the Professional Practice Model of Relationship Centered Care.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) and role model expected behaviors.
  • Ensure integration of PHR into clinical activities to enhance Relationship Centered Care.
  • Assist in validating staff members round hourly on all patients by direct observation and patient feedback.
  • Assess staff competency in PHR and provide consistent meaningful feedback.
  • Conduct rounding of all patients daily when Nurse Manager is away and as assigned.
  • Communicate patient experience and staff engagement information to the team.
  • Collaborate with the physician dyad and elevate concerns as appropriate.
  • Follow up on patient concerns in a timely manner and provide service recovery as needed.
  • Support implementation of the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of the department.
Requirements Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required;
    Master's in nursing or health-related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3 years minimum clinical nursing experience;
    Charge Nurse/supervisory experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Licensed as a registered nurse with current registration in New York State.
  • BLS certification required.
