The Director of Nursing at NYC Health and Hospitals is responsible for overseeing the Nursing Department, implementing policies, and ensuring high standards of patient care. This role is ideal for experienced nursing administrators looking to lead and innovate in a dynamic healthcare environment.

• Develop, establish, and implement the philosophy, objectives, policies, and standards of the Nursing Department.
• Organize the Nursing Department to delineate authority, functional responsibilities, and lines of communication.
• Determine staffing requirements in relation to patient care standards and develop procedures to maintain an adequate nursing staff.
• Maintain a system of continuing evaluation of nursing service provided for patients.
• Maintain up-to-date policy procedure manuals for all nursing units and evaluate their effectiveness.
• Establish an effective system of clinical and administrative nursing records and reports.
• Direct the preparation of the personnel, equipment, and supply budgets for the Nursing Department.
• Direct the development and implementation of orientation, training, and continuing education programs for nursing personnel.
• Initiate and participate in studies and research projects to improve patient care and administrative services.
• Plan for and coordinate the use of clinical facilities by colleges and other agencies for nursing education purposes.

• Master’s Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field required

• Minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital

• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State
