About This Role

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric ICU (PICU) provides specialized nursing care for critically ill children, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role is ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Pay: $90 - $93/hour
• Location: Queens, NY
• Facility: Northwell Health
• Department/Unit: Pediatric ICU
• Schedule: Full-Time

• Assess the patient’s physiologic health status.
• Conduct patient interviews and explain policies and procedures.
• Assess gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition.
• Assess level of pain and pain management.
• Communicate and document patient’s physiologic health status and plan of care.
• Assess patient’s psychosocial health status.
• Elicit perception of medical/nursing care and expectations.
• Identify cultural/ethnic requirements to reduce anxiety and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Develop criteria for measurement of patient outcomes.

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing required, Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

• 2+ years of current Pediatric ICU experience required.

• Current RN License in New York State required.
• BLS and PALS certification required.
