Hospice Care, Registered Nurse Scheduled Per Diem

The Hospice Care Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care for patients in a hospice setting, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. This role is ideal for compassionate nurses who excel in collaborative environments and are dedicated to improving patient outcomes.

• Pay: $72/hour
• Location: Staten Island, NY
• Facility: Northwell Health
• Schedule: Per Diem

• Assess the patient’s physiologic health status through interviews and chart reviews.
• Evaluate gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, and neurological health status.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition; adjust care plans as needed.
• Assess psychosocial health status and identify cultural/ethnic requirements.
• Develop criteria for measuring patient outcomes and establish individualized goals.
• Formulate and document the plan of care, coordinating with health team members.
• Implement the plan of care, ensuring safety precautions are followed.
• Administer medications correctly and educate patients on drug interactions.
• Participate in patient and family education, providing explanations of conditions.
• Collaborate with care team members to plan and carry out treatment regimens.

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing;
  Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.

• Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment if hired after September 1, 2010, and obtain a BSN degree within five (5) years of employment date.

• Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• BCLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
