Overview

Queens County Farm Museum is one of the longest continually farmed sites in New York State, dating back to 1697. Queens Farm serves as a vital and rare resource connecting people to agriculture and the environment in New York City. The 47-acre historic site is a leader in locally grown food and the ecological well-being of New York City. The farm uses Certified Naturally Grown methods to grow fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers on 4 acres of land, in addition to a 3-acre corn maze.

The farm’s livestock program consists of several hundred laying hens, nine sheep, four goats, three alpacas, two steer, and two pigs. The farm is also host to a large apiary.

The Queens Farm Agriculture Department is looking for motivated, upbeat individuals to join the farm team during our busiest time of the season. Ideal candidates are positive and patient, with stellar people skills and a passion for local food and sustainable food systems. Knowledge about a variety of produce would be a great asset to our team as well as an interest in regenerative farming practices and working with a diverse public population.

We are hiring for two part-time positions, starting the first week of June and ending at the beginning of November. These positions will be based at our off-site farm-stand locations in Queens, NY on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 25-30 hours per week.

  • Act as liaison for QCFM at markets and communicate all necessary information
  • Record keeping and data collection of farm stand sales, nutrition assistance programs and other data
  • Additional related duties, as needed.

  • Positive and patient attitude
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Passion for local food and knowledge about produce
  • Attention to time and efficiency
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions in a fast-paced work environment
  • Farmers’ Market, retail, and/or service industry experience
