Job DescriptionMUST BE COMMITTED AND IS REQUIRED TO BE AWAY FROM HOME FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME DURING THE FIRE SEASON. (Unless a family emergency occurs within the immediate family.) The purpose of the position is wild land fire suppression/management/control, as a senior wild land firefighter on hotshot crew. Other wild land fire related duties may involve fire prevention, patrol, detection, or prescribed burning.
The incumbent may be assigned for varying periods of time into one or more types of positions within the wildfire program where the individual's specialized skills are required. This position is at the full performance level.
- Required to pass medical exam and arduous fitness test.
- Must have a telephone or reliable message phone, and be available and on call 24 hours a day during the fire season.
- The Position requires a valid driver's license.
- Must submit and pass a criminal background check with Federal, Tribal and State Law Enforcement.
