Turf & Irrigation Assistant

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) is looking to hirea

Seasonal Turf and Irrigation Assistant(full-time, non-exempt, temporary) whowill supporttheupkeep of park landscapesand green spaces with a primary focus on turf health and irrigation systems.

This roleassistswith dailyturfmaintenance tasks,operation and basic repair of irrigation systems, and ensuring park areasremainclean,safe, attractive, and functional for public use.

Reporting tothe Director of Horticulture, the role contributes to thehigh standards of landscape quality expected at a premier urban waterfront park.

• Perform daily turf maintenance including push mowing and string trimming
• Handpullbroadleaf invasive plants on lawns
• Assist with daily lawn closures and reopening
• Perform detail-oriented tasks such filling holes in lawns, hand seeding,wateringand mulching along lawn trees
• Assistin parkwide leaf clean-up
• Maintain and clean turf equipment
• Assistin drip and sprinkler irrigation repair
• Assistin troubleshooting of irrigation systems failures
• Assistin irrigation flagging for aerification and slice seeding operations
• Assistin other horticulture operational tasks as needed such as event preparation
• Assistin data tracking of maintenance programs on digital software
