The Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium is looking for an individual who is enthusiastic about environmental education to work with us on a per diem basis. Students range from kindergarten through high school. Primary responsibilities will be teaching our summer programs. Programs include nature crafts, hands‑on activities, and outdoor adventures to nearby freshwater, salt marsh, and woodland habitats.
Hours: Summer programs run from June 29 through August 14. Preparations for summer programs will begin in late June.
Qualifications:
- Background in biology, environmental science, or education.
- Interest in early education.
- Must be enthusiastic and enjoy working with children.
- Must have flexible hours and be available throughout the camp season each week.
- Must be comfortable handling fish, reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates.
- First Aid and CPR certified.
- Spend your summer outdoors while sharing your love of nature and science with children.
- Seasonal per diem educators will be paid $17/hour.
- Hours may be used to fulfill observation/teaching hours. Check with your advisor for approval.
