Role Description

The Lead Field Technician role is not an entry level position. Minimum 3 years experience in landscape installation and garden maintenance required. This is an on-site position located in Saratoga County, NY. Responsibilities include planting and maintaining native gardens, assisting with the cultivation and care of plants at the wildflower farm, and supporting project installations such as Butterfly Gardens, Rain Gardens, and Woodland Gardens.

Field Technicians will also assist with material handling and maintain equipment, ensuring high-quality results for every project. This position will involve interacting with clients and communicating well with the office, fellow team members and clients.

Qualifications
  • Experience or knowledge in native plant care, landscaping, and ecological gardening techniques.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as planting, lifting, and handling outdoor equipment.
  • Practical skills in working with hand tools and jobsite organization relevant to landscaping projects.
  • Educational background related to life sciences, botany, the environment, sustainable practices, environmental stewardship, and habitat restoration.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to work independently and adapt to varying context shifts, including weather conditions and varying types of tasks. Fieldwork and farmwork may all be part of the same day.
  • Previous experience in horticulture, greenhouses, or landscaping is required.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license and access to reliable transportation are needed.
