Humane Educator; Tour Guide

Job Summary Catskill Animal Sanctuary (CAS) is seeking a Humane Educator (Tour Guide) who wants to use their skills and passion to advance farmed animal protection. Humane Educators provide tours for visitors on Saturdays and Sundays from April through mid-November. Hours vary between 9:30-2:30 or 10-3:30pm (times may vary in inclement weather). Responsibilities include helping visitors experience the sanctuary as a welcoming, educational, unique, safe, and friendly environment.

Responsibilities/Duties Conducting 90-minute public tours on weekends from April through November, guiding groups of up to 20 people around the sanctuary (outdoors), including some children.

Assisting with retail sales by recommending products to visitors and, as necessary, complete sales through the POS system.

Enforcing visitor guidelines in a friendly and firm manner to ensure the safety of visitors and the animal residents of the sanctuary.

Fostering and maintaining meaningful relationships with our visitors.

Work Environment The candidate must be able to spend 6 hours outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions and manage their responsibilities with limited supervision.
