Background

We are a very busy Mixed Animal Practice on the North Fork of Long Island. A rural area with farms, and wineries that is surrounded by water for all types of water sports. We presently mentor LIU veterinary students during years 2-4. We have a full staff of 7 licensed veterinary technicians and a large support staff. We work with many animal shelters and have a board-certified surgeon and internist come in when our clients need their skill set.

Internship Responsibilities

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000.
