Summary

As a Medical Staff Floor Manager, LVT at the ASPCA Animal Hospital (AAH), you’ll play a key role in supporting access to compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care for pets and their families, especially those who have experienced hardship.

What You’ll Do

A Medical Staff Floor Manager, LVT reports directly to the Senior Director, Floor Managers and has 10–12 direct reports. In this role you serve as a clinical and operational leader, balancing hands‑on Licensed Veterinary Technician responsibilities with oversight of daily hospital operations.

You will deliver a seamless and compassionate experience for clients and their pets from check‑in through check‑out, lead medical teams on the floor, ensure appropriate staffing, patient flow, and adherence to medical standards, and optimize daily operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • People Management & Development:
    Build strong relationships, conduct performance reviews, mentor staff, resolve conflicts, and promote a high‑performing, inclusive culture.
  • Operational Support:
    Maintain adequate staffing, manage workflow, oversee safety and incident reporting, assist with animal care (minimum 50% of the week), and ensure equipment and supply standards.
  • Communication & Leadership:
    Lead daily huddles, drive process improvements, monitor performance indicators, and support strategic initiatives.
Where and When You’ll Work
  • Schedule:

    Wednesday‑Saturday 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. onsite at the 92nd Street location.
  • Full‑time, with occasional weekend, holiday, and overtime requirements.
What You’ll Get

Compensation
Target hiring range: $92,000 – $97,000 annually, with eligibility for a signing bonus and relocation bonus. The role is also eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

Qualifications
  • New York State Veterinary Technician License.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong planning, organization, and leadership skills in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Effective communication, flexibility, and self‑confidence.
  • Physical ability to lift 40 + pounds and stand for at least 10 hours.
  • Ability to exemplify ASPCA’s core values and behavioral competencies.
Education and Work Experience
  • Preferred:
    Experience managing people.
  • Required:

    Experience working in a veterinary setting and at least 1 year in an operational role.
  • Required:

    Experience handling and restraining animals.
  • Capability to direct people and interact with staff, clients, and the public.
