Veterinary Services, Upstate Veterinary Specialties is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Neurology Veterinary Assistant to join our growing specialty team. In this role, you will support our Neurology department through patient care, client communication, diagnostic testing, procedural support, and daily workflow. • Support daily workflow and assist the Neurology team in delivering outstanding patient care
• Safely restrain and handle patients for examinations, diagnostics, and procedures
• Obtain and document accurate patient medical histories, chief complaints, and medication information
• Review medical records, referrals, bloodwork, and radiographs to ensure necessary information is available
• Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures
• Set up and assist with MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy procedures
• Assist with patient preparation and induction for anesthetic procedures
• Assist with operating room setup and maintain proper aseptic technique
• Develop proficiency with veterinary equipment, instruments, and patient care software
• Communicate patient treatment plans and medical information effectively with clients
• Coordinate client services and patient care with other specialty departments as needed
• Partner with doctors and support staff to optimize daily patient flow and efficiency
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the Neurology department
• Follow UVS protocols and OSHA regulations to maintain a safe working environment
• Assist other areas of the hospital during non-peak times as needed
• Participate in department meetings, special projects, reports, and hospital initiatives
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve workflow and enhance the patient and client experience

• Previous Veterinary Assistant experience involving patient restraint, history taking, laboratory sample management, and patient care required
• Experience working in a specialty or hospital environment is a plus

• Veterinary Assistant Certification preferred but not required

• Strong patient handling and restraint skills
• Ability to obtain and document accurate patient histories
• Familiarity with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
• Ability to learn and perform MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy setup
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
• Exceptional client service skills
• Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Basic computer proficiency and typing skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a positive and professional attitude
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and other departments
