Responsibilities

  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on the assigned cash register and provide customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving customer issues and answering questions to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model and share customer service best practices with all team members, demonstrating interpersonal habits (such as greeting, eye contact, courtesy) and Walgreens service traits (proactive help, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied).
  • Recommend items for sale to customers and recommend trade‑up and/or companion items.
  • Register customer purchases, collect cash, issue change, process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed, and assist customers in locating products.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised, take inventory, maintain records, check in and price merchandise as required.
  • Perform duties assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, verify medications, and check for possible interactions.
  • Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist’s personal attention, including those to physicians.
  • Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals, and file claims for warehouse overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages and tobacco products).
  • Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, superstructures, and sale merchandise, completing resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with the separation of food items and product placement as specified by policies and procedures, and perform stock rotation using the first‑in, first‑out method.
  • Maintain working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print and creative machine, and suggestive sell of promotional photo products.
  • Assume web pick‑up responsibilities (monitor orders in Picture Care Plus, pick items, deliver orders to customers as they arrive at the store).
  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring a clean, neat, orderly store condition and appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, maintain respectful relationships with coworkers, and complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.
  • Attend training and complete prescription pharmacy licenses (PPLs) requested by the manager or assigned by corporate, and acquire continuing education credits.
Qualifications
  • Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English. (Except in Puerto Rico)
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
  • Preferred:
    Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Preferred:
    Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Preferred:
    Good math skills (accurate counting, measuring, and weighing medications).
  • Preferred:
    Good computer skills.
  • Preferred:
    Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Preferred: PTCB certification.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $17 - $19 per hour.
