Hematology Tech II; Overnight

Antech Diagnostics, part of Mars Science & Diagnostics, is focused on veterinary care and provides laboratory services to 90+ reference laboratories worldwide.

Work Shift:

Monday‑Saturday 12:00am – 8:30am, 40 hours per week
Target Pay: $24.81 per hour

The Hematology Technician II performs laboratory analyses and tests, prepares samples, sets up instruments, runs tests, and reads, interprets and releases results.

• Sets up and runs lab tests and reads/release test results
• Read UA slides, bacteria, and path review slides at department minimum rates
• Build hematology and UA loads
• Operate Atlas UA instrument as requested
• Perform all required quality control per QA guidelines, including instrument maintenance and temperature charts
• Find missing specimens; print and reconcile queue list
• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator
• Set up and assist with avian and exotic specimens as requested
• Prepare blood smears and perform re‑checks as directed using LTP when necessary
• Library all samples; ensure bar‑coded racks are arranged correctly and loaded onto instruments
• Run all needed quality control and calibration by department
• Read, understand and follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures
• Maintain clean and organized work area; restock supplies as needed
• Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation
• Consult with senior peers on non‑complex hematology tasks to learn through experience
• May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior/some lab experience preferred
• 2‑ or 4‑year degree in a science‑related field is a plus

• Laboratory skills, including experience setting up, running and operating lab instruments
• Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology and parasitology procedures and equipment is helpful
• Attention to detail; ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to learn new assignments efficiently and support other teams during low demand periods
• Communication skills, both verbal and written
• Positive, can‑do attitude; basic math, interpretive and analytical skills
• Strong data entry skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software

• Stationary position for up to 2 hours; must remain stationary while operating lab equipment
• Occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching; required to lift and carry up to 20lbs
• Exposure to potential biohazards; mandatory use of PPE and adherence to National Hazard Communication Standards
• Extended hours may be required
