PositionSummary
The Food Safety & Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s food safety and quality systems to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, customer, and certification requirements. This is a hands on role leading food safety programs, overseeing and partnering with production, sanitation, and operations teams to drive a culture of food safety and quality across the facility.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and maintain the facility’s food safety and quality management systems (e.g., HACCP, GMPs, Preventive Controls).
- Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA (if applicable), state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Manage third‑party audits and certifications (e.g., SQF, Organic, Kosher etc).
- Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs, SSOPs, and food safety documentation.
- Oversee product specifications, raw material approvals, supplier verification, and COA review.
- Lead internal audits, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage QA staff, including training, scheduling, performance management, and development.
- Review and approve product releases, deviations, non‑conformances, and hold/release decisions.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, R&D, and sanitation teams to ensure food safety is embedded in daily operations.
- Lead food safety training programs for all employees.
- Support new product launches, process changes, and equipment validations from a food safety and quality perspective.
- Act as the primary contact during regulatory inspections and customer audits.
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field preferred.
- Experience in abeverage manufacturingor food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, FSMA Preventive Controls, and sanitation programs.
- PCQI certification required or ability to obtain within [timeframe].
- Experience managing third‑party audits (SQF, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, or similar).
- Prior people‑management or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally.
Starting salary range: $80,000-$90,000 depending on experience
