Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager – Long Island City, NY

The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager will manage all FSQA activities at the facility level, ensuring compliance with local, state, federal, and regulatory requirements while continuously improving systems, processes, and culture.
Responsibilities- Maintain safety, quality and regulatory compliance for food products in accordance with local, state, federal, environmental, SQF, and food safety regulations.
- Manage the hourly sanitation team and enhance sanitation programs and processes to meet facility standards.
- Champion and provide direction to a high‑performing quality and food safety culture through audits, training, coaching, and consultations.
- Support investigations into customer or consumer complaints related to food safety and quality assurance.
- Maintain and verify documentation required by the food safety management standard.
- Assess raw material and finished‑good suppliers to ensure quality and regulatory compliance, collaborating with department managers on new products or practices.
- Generate reports describing Quality Assurance KPIs, activities, trends, and expenditures, and communicate findings and action plans to appropriate parties.
- Coordinate physical, chemical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, finished products, and environmental samples per specifications.
- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in chemistry, biology, food science, or a related field).
- Minimum of 5+ years working in food manufacturing or the restaurant industry with experience in HACCP, SQF, GFSI, FDA and/or NYS audits. Organic experience is a plus.
- PCQI (Preventative Control Qualified Individual) certification with knowledge of retail and manufacturing regulatory requirements.
- Highly organized with excellent documentation management and prioritization skills.
- Strong multi‑tasking ability and capacity to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to follow‑up.
- Solutions‑oriented, team player with a positive attitude, self‑confidence, and enthusiasm.
- Adaptability and flexibility, including willingness to work additional hours as needed.

Salary$85,000 – $95,000
