Position OverviewThe Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all food safety regulations, policies, and procedures across Green Top Farms operations. This role owns the company’s HACCP programs, regulatory compliance, internal audit processes, and food safety training, ensuring GTF consistently operates in a safe environment and delivers a quality product.
This is a hands‑on leadership role based at our main kitchen in Brooklyn, working closely with culinary, operations, and QC teams to maintain and elevate food safety standards across all production and client site operations.
We are looking for a candidate who brings deep expertise in food safety for ready‑to‑eat processing environments, is comfortable managing regulatory relationships, and takes a proactive, systems‑oriented approach to quality assurance. The ideal candidate is detail‑driven, collaborative, and committed to building a food safety culture across the organization.
Regulatory Compliance & HACCP Management (35%)- Manage relationships with the Department of Agriculture, USDA, and other regulatory bodies to ensure all licensing, permits, and compliance requirements are met
- Develop, maintain, and update HACCP plans, SOPs, SSOPs, and prerequisite program documentation
- Audit our facility and enforce compliance with USDA policies, food safety best practice, and record‑keeping standards in coordination with the QC team
- Conduct internal audits and ensure audit readiness across all operations
- Contact and maintain relationships with third‑party auditing services as needed
- Perform root cause analysis for consumer complaints and summarize findings through a CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) process with urgency
- Perform and coordinate analysis of process capability, weighing in on all production and project developments
- Review and expand the sanitation program to maintain and elevate cleanliness standards
- Identify trends in quality data and implement process improvements to reduce risk and improve consistency
- Develop and maintain food safety training programs across all departments
- Partner with managers to build training systems for employees, including onboarding and ongoing reinforcement
- Foster a culture of food safety awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization
- Ensure all team members understand and follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and company food safety standards
- Work closely with culinary, operations, and site leadership teams to ensure food safety standards are integrated into daily workflows
- Provide regular reporting on compliance status, audit findings, and corrective actions to senior leadership
- Support new site launches and program expansions by establishing food safety protocols and documentation
- Assume additional responsibilities as needed to support food safety priorities and ensure safe operations across all GTF locations
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in food safety for a ready‑to‑eat (RTE) processing facility
- Experience creating and maintaining HACCP plans, including record‑keeping and documentation
- HACCP and PCQI certifications
