Job Description
This Lab Technician role focuses on microbiology and quality control testing in a food manufacturing environment. You will perform product and microbiological analyses, support raw ingredient testing, and help ensure that only safe, high-quality products are released for shipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a new graduate to gain hands-on laboratory experience and build a strong professional foundation in a growing food manufacturing operation.
Responsibilities
+ Perform product and microbiology testing to support quality control in a food manufacturing environment.
+ Conduct computer data entry and maintain accurate laboratory records and databases.
+ Set up the daily testing table and organize, label, and maintain a sample retention library.
+ Release finished product for shipment based on laboratory test results and quality specifications.
+ Test raw ingredients to verify quality, safety, and compliance with established standards.
+ Resample totes, including nonconforming product and experimental totes, and perform appropriate testing and documentation.
+ Observe and follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), good housekeeping practices, and safety rules and regulations.
+ Complete all individual training as outlined by the training matrix or management training schedule.
+ Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor or Lab Lead to support overall laboratory and quality operations.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology or Microbiology, or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in a related field.
+ Hands-on laboratory experience in a microbiology, biology, or chemistry setting.
+
Experience with bacteria culture techniques, including plating and handling microbiological samples.
+ Knowledge of food testing procedures and microbiological quality control methods.
+ Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques, including titration and related analytical methods.
+ Ability to perform accurate pipetting and follow detailed laboratory protocols.
+
Experience with data entry and maintaining organized, accurate laboratory records.
+ Understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles in a laboratory or manufacturing environment.
+ Familiarity with inspection and diagnostic testing in a lab setting.
+ Ability to follow GMP, HACCP, and safety guidelines consistently.

Work Environment
This role is based in a microbiology laboratory within a food manufacturing facility. You will work primarily in a controlled lab setting, performing microbiological and chemistry-based tests on products and raw ingredients. The position operates on a 3rd shift schedule, which may include overnight hours. You will use standard laboratory equipment such as pipettes, plating tools, wet chemistry apparatus, and data entry systems.
The environment emphasizes strict adherence to GMP, HACCP, safety rules, and good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean, safe, and compliant workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of BALDWINSVILLE, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
