What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a construction inspector responsible for daily inspection of routine activities within a given discipline/trade performed by contractors, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions. The position includes maintaining daily logs, reviewing discrepancies with the Field Engineer, and performing on‑site material testing. Work is generally limited to smaller, standard, less complex projects.
What You’ll Do- Observes, documents, and verifies work in progress by the construction contractor to ensure compliance with contract documents and plans. Confirms procedures are followed and material used conforms to specifications.
- Utilizes engineering inspection practices to perform standard mathematical calculations and measurements of completed work to date.
- Maintains Inspector’s daily report of assigned work activities, contractor labor and equipment, quantity of material received and verified.
- Performs on‑site material testing and produces as‑constructed sketches as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent and 3 years of construction related experience.
- All required jurisdictional certificates and state requirements.
- Recognizes and escalates discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
- Interprets and understands schedules to provide feedback.
- Operates relevant testing equipment to assigned duties.
- Understands Microsoft Office Suite and other computer skills at an advanced level.
- Calculates complex pay quantities.
- Identifies, documents, and escalates change conditions.
- NYCDDC Experience as an inspector (Sidewalks / Concrete)
- Current ACI Certificate
- Current OSHA 10 or higher
- Current NYCDDC Water Main Training
- Comprehensive Knowledge of NYCDDC and NYCDEP Specifications

CompensationThe approximate pay range for New York is $31.15 - $58.40. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
