Seeking a Sr Estimator for a High Rise Design Build Project.

Responsibilities

The QA/QC Field Manager role requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work independently in alignment with client expectations.

This role supports the Owner/Program Management Consultant by reviewing the Design-Builder’s QA/QC processes and implementing an Owner spot-check program to verify compliance with the Basis of Design (BOD),contract documents, and approved submittals. Field observations will be issued to the Design-Builder and tracked to closure.

The role is limited to observation, documentation, and reporting. It does not direct construction means and methods, supervise subcontractors, or manage daily construction activities.

Key duties include:

  • Review Design-Builder QA/QC plans, inspection/test plans, and procedures for contract and BOD compliance.
  • Review QC reports (logs, NCRs, inspections, test results) and identify trends and recurring issues.
  • Implement Owner QA/QC spot-check program (planned and random) to verify field compliance.
  • Perform field verification against IFC drawings, approved submittals/RFIs, mockups, codes, and specifications.
  • Maintain BOD compliance tracker linking requirements to design, submittals, testing, and field status. Issue field observations with photos and references; track to verified closure.
  • Conduct pre-inspection walkthroughs for regulatory and key milestone testing readiness.
  • Coordinate SME site visits for critical systems and consolidate findings for follow-up.
  • Provide weekly and monthly quality reporting, including risks and deviations from BOD requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • General Superintendent or Architect background with strong QA/QC and field verification capability.
  • Design-Build experience, including working with Design-Builder QC programs and formal documentation processes (submittals/RFIs/NCRs).
  • MEP background, including experience with MEP coordination, installation verification, and life-safety interfaces.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards applicable to complex vertical projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation and quality verification (BOD, conformed CDs, approved submittals, code requirements).
  • Experience inspecting high-risk scopes (envelope/waterproofing, fire stopping, life safety interfaces, MEPcoordination).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and industry standards (including ISO 9001 principles as applicable to materials and manufacturers) is preferred.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience reviewing and interpreting contract documents, performing field inspections/spot checks, documenting conditions, and reporting results.
  • Demonstrated ability to issue and close quality observations/non-conformances through follow-up and verification.
  • Experience on major public projects (DDC, SCA, MTA/NYCT, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, etc.) strongly preferred.
  • NICET Certification (preferred)
  • ACI and/or ICC Certifications (as applicable) preferred.
