An on-site safety and operations role within the industrial manufacturing and construction materials industry
, focused on equipment inspections, safety compliance, documentation, and supporting health, safety, and environmental standards.
The Operational Safety Support Specialist will conduct routine inspections of critical safety and operational equipment, maintain accurate compliance records, identify hazards, and support site management with health and safety requirements. The role is hands-on and suited to someone comfortable working in an industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine inspections of fire suppression systems and fire extinguishers.
- Coordinate annual fire extinguisher inspections with certified external vendors.
- Inspect anchor points and fall-protection equipment.
- Perform safety inspections of handrails, ladders, stairways, and walkways.
- Inspect hoists, lifts, slings, and rigging equipment for damage, wear, and compliance.
- Conduct maintenance and safety checks on man lifts, skid steers, forklifts, and other operational equipment.
- Inspect AED units and emergency eyewash stations to ensure they remain operational.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs, equipment records, and compliance documentation.
- Identify and promptly report equipment defects, hazards, and safety concerns.
- Support site management and supervisors with health and safety requirements.
- Recommend corrective actions when safety issues are identified.
- Maintain documentation and records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Promote adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies throughout the facility.
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in equipment inspections, safety inspections, maintenance, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic computer and data-entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders throughout the workday.
- Willingness to travel occasionally, approximately 0–10%.
- Knowledge of MSHA standards and safety regulations is an advantage.
- SAP experience is preferred.
