What You’ll DoYou’ll independently lead quality engineering activities across manufacturing while partnering with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other teams. Your focus will be solving quality issues, reducing risk, improving processes, and strengthening our Quality Management System.
- Develop, implement, and improve quality plans, procedures, process controls, and Quality Management System documentation.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions for product, process, customer, and supplier quality issues.
- Analyze production and quality data to identify trends, process variation, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering to resolve quality issues and improve product and process performance.
- Support New Product Development by establishing quality requirements, controls, inspection methods, and testing strategies.
- Plan and lead product, process, supplier, and Quality Management System audits and drive findings through resolution.
- Develop and improve inspection methods, testing procedures, sampling plans, and quality controls.
- Apply risk management and structured problem‑solving methods to prevent recurring quality issues.
- Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, and other quality tools.
- Support supplier quality activities and work cross‑functionally with Supply Chain to address supplier‑related concerns.
- Support calibration systems and ensure applicable quality system requirements are maintained.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to Quality Technicians, Inspectors, and less‑experienced team members.
- Promote Pelican’s commitment to Safety, Environment, Quality, and continuous improvement.
- Provide Quality Engineering support across Pelican’s Ontario and Torrance manufacturing facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering or technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 3 to 5 years of Quality Engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within an ISO‑certified Quality Management System.
- Hands‑on experience leading root cause investigations, corrective actions, and quality improvement projects.
- Experience with risk management, process controls, quality planning, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to analyze quality and manufacturing data and use findings to drive corrective action.
- Experience planning or participating in internal, supplier, process, or QMS audits.
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, statistical analysis, or similar problem‑solving methodologies.
- Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to work across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, quality or statistical analysis tools, and ERP/business systems.
