Position: Quality Associate (Third-Party Manufacturing)

Role Overview :

The Third-Party Manufacturing (3PM) Quality Associate supports the day-to-day quality management of David’s contract manufacturers (co-mans). This role helps ensure that co-manufacturers consistently meet David’s quality, food safety, product, and documentation requirements.

The 3PM Quality Associate will work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, R&D, and external manufacturing partners to support finished goods quality, specification compliance, lot release, traceability, documentation, and continuous improvement across David’s external manufacturing network.

Core Responsibilities:

Co-Manufacturer Management
  • Support the qualification and onboarding of new contract manufacturers against David’s quality and food safety requirements.
  • Coordinate collection and review of required co-man documentation, certifications, and quality records.
  • Support maintenance of the co-man onboarding materials, and quality agreements.
  • Participate in co-man audits, site visits, production trials, and routine quality meetings.
  • Maintain the co-man audit schedule and track completion of required follow-up actions.
  • Track CAPAs and non-conformances, follow up with co-mans on open actions, and elevate overdue or significant issues.
  • Maintain co-manufacturer dashboards, scorecards, and performance metrics in partnership with Quality and Manufacturing.
Lot Release & COA Management
  • Coordinate finished goods lot release activities for products manufactured by co-mans.
  • Review finished goods Certificates of Analysis (COAs) against approved specifications and flag discrepancies for review.
  • Track testing results and required documentation to ensure all release requirements are completed.
Systems & Documentation
  • Support QMS implementation and ongoing use with co-manufacturing partners.
  • Maintain SOPs, specifications, quality agreements, and other controlled quality documentation.
  • Participate in weekly quality and co-man meetings and document actions and follow-ups.
  • Maintain co-manufacturer scorecards and dashboards used to track quality and operational performance.
  • Ensure quality documentation is accurate, current, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Help translate product development requirements into manufacturing specifications, quality requirements, and production documentation.

Required:

  • Background in Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Quality, Food Safety, or related field
  • Experience in food, beverage, or CPG quality, regulatory, supplier quality, or food safety
  • Working knowledge of food safety and regulatory frameworks (FDA, FSMA, GFSI, HACCP, Prop 65)
  • Strong organizational skills with a high bar for documentation and follow-through
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, scaling environment

Preferred:

  • Experience with supplier audits, CAPAs, and recall execution
  • Familiarity with Trace Gains or similar supplier management systems
  • PCQI, HACCP, or GFSI experience
    Experience working directly with co-manufacturers, ingredient suppliers, and 3PLs
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • This is a full-time, in-office role based in New York City. We work onsite five days a week- when the culture fits, it is fun to be in the office together
  • Salary: $95,000-$110,000 per year, inclusive of bonus
