Quality Manager - Heavy Civil & Transit Infrastructure The Role

MEICON is hiring Quality Engineer for a renowned NYC Based Contractor specializing in Transit (MTA, LIRR, Amtrak) and School Construction (SCA, DASNY) Projects. Skills & Responsibilities
  • The Quality Manager is responsible for developing and implementing the Quality Plan.
  • Responsible for performing the day-to-day maintenance and implementation of the quality plan.
  • Perform quality reports and oversee the documentation of QC and oversee all quality issues.
  • Develop Quality Control Plan for submission & Ensure compliance of the quality plan with Federal, State, Local, and other regulatory laws and standards.
  • Management & control of documents and documents changes.
  • Review and approve submittals and work plans.
  • Interpret Contract Drawings, Specifications, Shop Drawings and Material Submittals for contract compliance.
  • Review RFIs and change orders; ensure installed work conforms with supplemental instructions or direction provided by authorized Owners Reps and/or the A/E.
  • Schedule and conduct Preparatory Meetings; complete and distribute meeting minutes
  • Document inspections and issue reports.
  • Develop and maintain quality control logs & Distribute relevant QC documentation to site subcontractors.
  • Inspect material deliveries for compliance with approved submittals and industry standards.
  • Inspect for damaged or defective materials and workmanship.
  • Issue non-compliance notice for deficient materials or workmanship.
  • Update and manage non-compliance logs.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports including all required quality control reports, inspection reports, and testing documentation.
  • Schedule, manage and attend meetings related to Quality issues.
  • Schedule and coordinate all 3rd party testing and inspection requirements.
  • Responsible for documenting and maintaining records relating to testing data.
  • Responsible for selecting products for tests at specified stages in production process and test products for a variety of qualities, such as performance, strength, and chemical characteristics as required.
  • Responsible for testing and monitoring of products to ensure factors such as adhesion, hardness and strength are compliant with contract requirements.
  • Draft punch lists, review punch list work, sign off on corrected items, and update punch lists.
  • Conduct business in a professional and ethical manner and integrate well into the project team.
  • Jointly, with Construction and Procurement departments, review meetings of contractual specifications for all materials involved in the project.
Requirements And Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in Quality on construction.
  • Experience leading or assisting in Audits to suppliers, subcontractors, or internal department teams.
  • Applicable certifications in Quality, ASQ and ISO Auditor, and Construction preferred.
  • Preferred to have current certification in Quality Management from the American Society for Quality (ASQ) certified ISO-9001.
  • The ability to work in a team/Independent environment and work with outside vendors as needed.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented Plans with the capacity to maintain information confidentiality.
  • Experience in the quality control review process.
  • Excellent time management, organizational & leadership skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Broad understanding of construction documents and drawings.
  • Experience in handling projects 100% independently.
  • Positive attitude & Great Passion towards the work.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, and industry safety.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in safety policies and procedures.
