Location: New York

Our client, a food manufacturer in the Bronx is seeking a highly motivated FSQA (Food Safety and Quality Assurance) Specialist to join the manufacturing team. The FSQA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and food safety protocols. This role is vital in maintaining the integrity of the production processes, safeguarding consumer health, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in quality assurance within food manufacturing environments, with a focus on compliance and inspection.

Sunday - Thursday, choice of shift: 5pm - 2am or 10pm - 6:30am

Salary starting at $27 per hour, commensurate with experience

Responsibilities
  • Support facility compliance to policy and regulations through onsite monitoring and/or verification activities.
  • Knowledge in wet sanitation and pre-operational monitoring procedures. Conduct/Review Pre-op inspection records as required.
  • Interact with State, FDA and Shellfish inspectors to ensure ongoing compliance with federal regulations along with timely resolution of deficiencies as needed.
  • Maintain readiness for Third Party GMP audit
  • Schedule and deliver local site Food Safety including CCPs, Food Defense, and Quality Management system training per schedule.
  • Assist in investigation of customer complaints. Support Corrective actions as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains HACCP records, verification of HACCP observations as required in the HACCP Plan(s) and verifies all elements of the HACCP Plan as required.
  • Conduct HACCP reassessments as required annually or when there are changes in the facility or equipment or raw materials
  • Perform routine inspections of the environment and facility to ensure regulatory requirements and HACCP, GMP, SSOP procedures are met. Reports information.
  • Prepares and presents HACCP training to all appropriate personnel and files all QA and HACCP documents. Audits all HACCP documentation on a regular basis.
Skills
  • GED or HS diploma or GED;
    Bachelors degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field highly preferred
  • Two plus years of quality assurance experience in cold environment food processing industry required. Seafood industry experience highly preferred
  • Knowledge of seafood regulations, GMP’s, food safety audits, process procedures and documentation.
  • GFSI audit experience highly preferred
  • Seafood HACCP certified or ability to gain certification within 6 months of hire
  • Proven experience in quality assurance or quality control within food manufacturing environments
  • Strong understanding of food safety principles, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) systems
