Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Food Safety & Quality Control Manager to lead food safety, quality assurance, and compliance programs within a food manufacturing/processing environment.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience managing HACCP and SQF programs
, FDA compliance, food safety audits, quality control processes, and plant‑level food safety systems. This person will work closely with production and quality teams to maintain high standards for food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.

Location & Travel Requirements
  • The preferred work location is the company's Wallkill, NY 12589 facility
    , where the employee will work primarily onsite.
  • The position will require travel to the New Jersey facility approximately twice per month
    .
  • Candidates who would prefer to work primarily from the New York City office may also be considered depending on their qualifications and experience.
  • NYC‑based candidates must be comfortable with and able to regularly travel to both the Wallkill, NY facility and the New Jersey facility as required.
  • Regular onsite presence at the upstate New York location and travel to New Jersey will be a necessary part of the role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and audit food safety and quality systems.
  • Manage and maintain HACCP and SQF programs and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, local health department, and third‑party food safety requirements
    .
  • Conduct internal inspections, gap assessments, audits, and corrective action follow‑ups.
  • Prepare the facility for customer, regulatory, and third‑party audits.
  • Develop and deliver food safety and quality training for employees.
  • Oversee supplier approval and supplier quality programs.
  • Maintain product traceability and support recall procedures when required.
  • Monitor cleaning, sanitation, and food safety procedures throughout the facility.
  • Oversee inspection and testing of raw materials, in‑process products, and finished products.
  • Investigate customer complaints, non‑conformances, and quality issues.
  • Establish corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor effectiveness.
  • Analyze quality and food safety data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support production teams in maintaining established quality and food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate food safety, quality, inspection, and compliance documentation.
  • Research and implement improved food safety and quality practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Quality, or a related field
    .
  • Strong experience in food manufacturing or food processing
    .
  • Hands‑on experience managing HACCP and SQF programs
    .
  • Experience with FDA compliance and third‑party food safety audits
    .
  • Experience developing and implementing food safety programs and conducting gap analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of plant‑level quality control and food safety procedures.
  • Experience with traceability, sanitation, supplier approval, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret quality and statistical data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between the Wallkill, NY and New Jersey facilities as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Seafood HACCP certification or seafood processing experience
    .
  • Experience working with smoked seafood, seafood processing, or other ready‑to‑eat food products.
  • Experience with GFSI‑recognized food safety programs.
  • Experience managing or preparing facilities for SQF certification audits.
What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is a hands‑on Food Safety / QA professional who has worked inside a food manufacturing or processing facility
, rather than someone whose experience is limited to general quality assurance or laboratory work.

Experience with
SQF + HACCP + FDA compliance + plant‑level food safety management is especially important.
