The Appraisal Bureau Director oversees the New York State Department of Transportation's statewide real estate appraisal program, managing professional appraisers across the main office and eleven regional locations. The role directs appraisal activities for right-of-way acquisitions, court cases, property disposals, and other departmental functions, ensuring valuations comply with USPAP standards and applicable laws. The incumbent supervises staff, develops policy, manages consultant relationships, and represents the department in dealings with federal, state, and local agencies.
Keyqualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and six years of relevant experience (substitutions available: four years specialized experience with associate's degree, or J.D./master's degree substituting for one year)
- Background in appraisal of real property acquired for public use via eminent domain
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Ability to supervise professional appraisers and manage statewide operations
- Technical expertise in real estate valuation and USPAP compliance
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
