Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team in a fast paced and challenging area? This is a unique opportunity for you to work with Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR) center goal of GTAR is to design and conduct research across multiple frontier technologies, in order to enable novel discoveries and inventions, and to inform and develop next-generation solutions for the firm’s clients and businesses.
As a Quantum Computing Research Scientist within The Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR), you will develop and scale up high-performance numerical methods to advance the study of quantum algorithms, quantum cryptography, and quantum compilation.
Job responsibilities- Drive a research agenda using numerical methods to advance quantum computing
- Lead the development of numerical methods for exact and approximate simulation of quantum circuits and dynamics of quantum systems
- Scale up numerical methods on HPC clusters and supercomputers
- Perform large-scale simulations and document the results in scientific papers.
- Implement, maintain, and manage a codebase of quantum simulation techniques.
- Ph.D. degree in computer science, physics, math, engineering or related fields, plus at least 2 years of experience (industry or postdoc)
- Experience in using GPUs in numerical simulation of quantum systems
- Experience running simulations on many parallel nodes on HPC clusters or supercomputers
- Experience in numerical study of quantum algorithms or systems and documenting the results in scientific papers
- Experience developing a successful research program focused on numerical study of quantum algorithms
- Experience with tensor network methods (e.g. MPS, PEPS)
- Knowledge of quantum algorithms for financial problems (e.g., optimization, risk analysis)
- Knowledge of error correction
