Overview

ENDGBV’s Training, Research, and Evaluation unit oversees the Gender-Based Violence Institute. The Gender-Based Violence Institute leads ENDGBV’s trainings, research, and program evaluations. It was created to enhance and better inform City agency and community-based organizations’ responses to the issues of DV/GBV. This Unit identifies key areas for policy change and development and engages in primary prevention work with young people and survivors throughout New York City.

The GBV Institute provides data management and support to all ENDGBV Units, programs and initiatives, and conducts multi-disciplinary research projects with interagency research partners to inform future work concerning the prevention and response to gender-based violence. The Unit also provides evaluation, data management and application development support to other agencies with programs that assist survivors of gender-based violence and maintains the office’s computer and technology inventory.

Position

Department Of Human Resources Administration (HRA) is recruiting for two (2) Community Coordinators to function as Research Analysts who will:

  • Contribute to the design and execution of the office’s research and evaluation agenda as a member of the research and evaluation team.
  • Assist the Director with assigned research, public health investigations and data analysis for domestic violence prevention and intervention initiatives.
  • Assist with drafting research reports, including data briefs and other research reports for internal and external use.
  • Utilize automated systems and tools to support research and analysis.
  • Contribute to literature searches and draft literature reviews.
  • Conduct presentations on research activities.
  • Maintain records, write reports and prepare and conduct presentations.
  • Perform tasks as assigned.

Hours/

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above; or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first bullet.
Preferred Skills
  • A broad range of skills; must be a critical thinker eager to apply a research skill set to shape domestic violence programming and policy.
  • Demonstrated interest in domestic violence.
  • Proven ability in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Experience with data management and analysis using statistical software (SQL, R, BI Analytics, etc.).
  • Experience developing, updating, and presenting Power BI reports; leading BI software development; managing BI tools; and visualizing insights and results.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, think creatively, take initiative, and support others on projects outside of research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present data and research projects to a wide audience.
  • Prior experience with administrative datasets and surveys preferred.
  • Expertise in topics such as family violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, stalking is a plus.
