Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Associate. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for conducting independent basic science experimentation based on research conducted in the assigned laboratory under the mentorship of a senior scientist. The individual is expected to build a portfolio of research accomplishments in preparation for acquiring a higher degree in biomedical research or medicine.
Job Responsibilities- After a period of time working in the laboratory, the candidate will be expected to train graduate students and post‑doctoral fellows in experimental design, technique and performance.
- Generate hypotheses and design and perform experiments to test them.
- Execute multiple experiments simultaneously over time independently.
- Record all experimental findings in a laboratory notebook, analyze and interpret experimental findings.
- Based on results, independently suggest and test modifications to protocols.
- Prepare figures and diagrams for presentations and publications.
- Communicate results and collaborate with other professionals in the lab.
- Demonstrate a significant level of intellectual input into the design of the project.
- Present findings at lab meetings, respond to challenges, and participate in exchanges of ideas to advance the science.
- Read and understand relevant scientific literature.
- Contribute to the preparation of articles on research outcomes and progress and to the submission of the same for publication.
- Participate in the editing and proofing of grant proposals, annual grant reports, and manuscripts for publication and recommend modifications to the Principal Investigator.
- Support ongoing biomedical research focused on women's health, including pregnancy, lactation, and reproductive biology.
- Work under the mentorship of a senior scientist, contribute to the design and execution of data‑driven studies aimed at understanding the molecular and clinical underpinnings of women's health outcomes.
- Engage in multi‑omics integration, advanced statistical modeling, and bioinformatics analysis of large‑scale datasets.
- Independently design and conduct computational analyses related to women's health, including pregnancy, birth outcomes, and reproductive disorders.
- Analyze and interpret high‑throughput biological data (e.g., transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome, and clinical data) using statistical and machine learning methods.
- Develop and maintain analysis pipelines and custom scripts to support ongoing studies, ensuring reproducibility and scalability.
- Collaborate with investigators and interdisciplinary teams to translate data insights into biological and clinical interpretations.
- Create visualizations and figures for use in presentations, grant submissions, and scientific publications.
- Stay current with relevant literature in computational biology and women's health research.
- Present findings in lab meetings, contribute to scientific discussions, and respond to feedback from collaborators and leadership.
- Support manuscript preparation and editing, including contributions to methods sections, figures, and data interpretation.
- Assist in mentoring students or junior staff on computational tools and best practices in data science.
College graduate with a B.S. or B.A. in Biomedical or Physical Sciences. A minimum commitment of two years is required and placement in the position may not exceed three years.
Preferred QualificationsCollege graduate with a B.S., B.A. or M.S. in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Biomedical or Physical Sciences.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
