Job Description
Dr. Lingbo Zhang’s Lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory focuses on both basic science and translational medicine of hematologic malignancies. The research of the Lab centers on normal and malignant stem and progenitor cells in the hematopoietic system and decodes the role of metabolites, including micronutrients and neurotransmitters, in the tumor microenvironment and their genetic effectors in regulating hematologic malignancies.
There are two fully funded postdoctoral fellowships available to investigate the roles of these critical metabolites and their genetic effectors in hematopoietic malignancies and develop novel therapeutic strategies.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe Lab utilizes a combination of CRISPR/Cas functional genomics, metabolomics, optogenetics, and fiber photometry to systematically uncover critical metabolites and genetic effectors, including receptors and metabolic enzymes, to reveal mechanistic insights and identify key drug targets for hematologic malignancies. The ultimate goal is to understand how environmental signals such as diets and nervous system activities modulate blood cell development and cancers.
Based on these insights, the Lab is building innovative therapeutics to treat hematopoietic malignancies that are currently without effective options.
Education:
Applicants should hold a PhD in biomedical sciences.
Experience/
Skills:
Ideal candidates should have strong research backgrounds in molecular and cellular biology, animal model and cancer research, flow cytometry and metabolomics analysis, or optogenetics and fiber photometry.
The salary for this role is $74,300.00 per annum. Compensation may be modified based on experience, education, credentials, and internal equity.
