Job Overview
Co‑Design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA) at Brookhaven National Laboratory is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate to design quantum algorithms and co‑design quantum error‑correcting codes for nuclear, high energy, and condensed matter applications. The role focuses on bridging multiple physics subareas and aligning quantum algorithm development with DOE‑priority scientific applications.
Responsibilities- Develop quantum algorithms and related quantum informatics questions for nuclear, high energy, and condensed matter problems.
- Collaborate with theory team members across disciplinary boundaries within a dynamic group environment.
- Operate independently and as part of a cross‑disciplinary research team.
- Ph.D. in Physics or related discipline obtained within the last five years.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Self‑motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to engage with a diverse group of scientists and technical staff.
- Proven ability to disseminate research results through manuscripts and academic presentations.
- Training as a theorist in condensed matter, nuclear, or high‑energy physics.
- Interest in quantum algorithm and quantum informatics research that spans multiple physics domains.
- Strong communication skills with colleagues focused on other theoretical techniques.
- Experience with quantum algorithms and quantum information science research.
- Expertise in tensor networks and matrix product states.
- Expertise in quantum platform software such as Qiskit or cuda‑q.
Full salary range: $75,000 - $81,000 per year, based on experience. Brookhaven National Laboratory offers a comprehensive employee benefits program.
