Senior Chemist – Personal Care Contract Manufacturing

Location: New York/ New Jersey [On-site]

I’m currently working with a personal care contract manufacturer to hire a Senior Chemist to join their growing R&D team. This role is critical to the development, scale-up, and commercialization of high-quality cosmetic and personal care products for a diverse customer base.

• Lead formulation development of personal care products (e.g., skincare, haircare, body care, OTC cosmetics as applicable) from concept through commercialization
• Design and execute formulation experiments, stability studies, and performance testing
• Troubleshoot formulation, scale-up, and manufacturing challenges in collaboration with Operations and Quality teams
• Support technology transfer from lab to pilot and full-scale manufacturing
• Ensure formulations comply with applicable regulatory and safety requirements (FDA, EU, IFRA, etc.)
• Partner with Sales and Marketing to support customer projects, technical presentations, and line extensions
• Mentor junior chemists and provide technical leadership within the R&D team
• Maintain thorough documentation, including batch records, specifications, and development reports

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or related scientific field (Master’s preferred)
• 7+ years of formulation experience in personal care, cosmetics, or related consumer products
• Strong hands‑on experience with emulsions, surfactant systems, and functional ingredients
• Proven experience supporting scale‑up and contract manufacturing environments
