The Role

We are seeking part-time interns to work from either New York or Washington D.C. starting in January 2026. Internship positions are suitable for current students who will graduate in 2026 and are available to work at least 20 hours per week. This position is paid hourly, and candidates who excel during the Spring will be offered a full‑time, salaried Researcher position in June 2026.

As an Intern, you will work closely with Barbican’s management team to help execute in‑depth research projects across a range of industries and jurisdictions. You will use databases, advanced online research techniques, and interviews to gather data; carry out intensive research and analysis of large amounts of information, assessing it for accuracy, reliability and relevance. Sources will include media reporting, court filings, company registers and many more.

Supported and supervised by project managers, you will produce high‑quality written analysis that meets the needs of our world‑class clients.

  • Previous work or volunteer experience that required conducting interviews is a plus (e.g., journalism, political canvassing, soliciting alumni donations, market research).
  • Curiosity – the desire to get to the bottom of complex issues and explain them well to clients.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload and work under pressure.
  • Ability to work as part of a multinational team of colleagues, including in other countries.
  • All information and materials submitted to Barbican will remain strictly confidential and be treated for recruitment purposes only. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
