Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory invites applications for a Research Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Hannah Meyer.
Position ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of computational and experimental scientists to study T cell development and auto-immunity. As a lab technician in the Meyer lab, you will assist members in a variety of projects, with a particular focus on processing and biobanking of human tissue samples. Additional responsibilities include lab inventory management, equipment calibration, preparation of biochemical reagents, and animal colony maintenance.
You must be able to commit to flexible work hours, with evening shifts required by the arrival of human specimens.
Position RequirementsEducation: A Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedicine, biochemistry, or a related life science discipline (level I requirement). A Bachelor's Degree in Science and at least two years of practical experience working in a lab (level II requirement).
Experience: 0–2 years of laboratory experience.
Desired skills and experience:
- Working with clinical tissue samples
- Microscopy and flow cytometry
- Cell culture
- Western blotting
- Immunoprecipitation
The candidate should be willing to commit at least two years to this position, and possess excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills; the willingness and ability to work independently and take initiative; and a strong sense of integrity.
