The Manager of R&D will serve as a forward-thinking leader responsible for driving innovation and continuous improvement within a growing gummy product portfolio. This individual will lead the development of new formats and flavors while enhancing the taste, functionality, and overall performance of existing products.

This role requires a strong understanding of market trends and ingredient science, along with close cross-functional collaboration to ensure products remain competitive and high-quality. The position will also play a key role in scaling formulations from bench to full production, working closely with external partners such as flavor houses and contract research organizations (CROs).

This is a highly hands‑on role, with a significant portion of time spent in the lab developing and testing formulations and processes.

• Develop and refine innovative gummy formulations
• Lead and manage research initiatives with external partners, including CROs and flavor houses
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation for formulations, ingredient specifications, and optimization work
• Establish and manage a clear framework for ingredient specifications and standards
• Prepare and iterate samples for internal testing and evaluation
• Partner with Operations to identify and implement opportunities for formulation and process improvements

• Conduct detailed sensory evaluations to assess flavor, texture, appearance, and solubility
• Incorporate consumer insights and feedback into product enhancements and new development
• Perform laboratory testing and physical measurements to ensure consistency and quality

• Research and evaluate trending ingredients, including their functionality and applications
• Identify opportunities to improve current products for optimal taste and efficacy
• Stay current on scientific research and emerging technologies within the industry

• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards
• Ensure all products meet established safety and quality requirements
• Uphold a close, organized, and compliant laboratory environment

$110,000 - $140,000

• Bachelor’s degree in food science or a related scientific field is required
• 4+ years of experience in the food science industry, including experience developing functional gummy products (e.g., gummies containing active ingredients)
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and work independently to achieve objectives
• Demonstrated willingness to challenge conventional approaches and drive innovation
• Experience collaborating effectively with external partners, particularly flavor houses
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to scientific rigor
• High emotional intelligence and a passion for creating positive product experiences
