Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Multimodal research team. We are looking for recognized experts in generative AI, multimodal reasoning, NLP, with experience in areas such as multimodal model training, data processing for pre‑training and fine‑tuning, LLM alignment, reinforcement learning for model tuning, efficient training and inference, image and video generation. The ideal candidate will have an interest in producing and applying new science to help us develop and deploy large multimodal models.
FundamentalMultimodal Research Scientist - Generative AI Responsibilities
- Lead, collaborate, and execute on research that pushes forward the state of the art in multimodal reasoning and generation research.
- Directly contribute to experiments, including designing experimental details, writing reusable code, running evaluations, and organizing results.
- Work with a large team.
- Contribute to publications and open‑sourcing efforts.
- Help identify long‑term ambitious research goals as well as intermediate milestones.
- Prioritize research that can be applied to Meta’s product development.
- Mentor other team members and play a significant role in healthy cross‑functional collaboration.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A PhD in AI, computer vision, computer science, data science, or related technical fields.
- Experience holding an industry, faculty, or government researcher position.
- Publications in machine learning.
- Experience writing software and executing complex experiments involving large AI models and datasets.
- Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Direct experience in generative AI, computer vision, and multimodal research.
- More than 2 years of work experience in a university, industry, or government lab, in a role with primary emphasis on AI research.
- First‑author publications at peer‑reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, ACL).
- Experience developing and debugging in Python.

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
