Overview
The Cellular Biologist I will work directly with the lab manager and Associate Director, collaborating with a team of cellular biologists, specialists, and Ph.D. level scientists in 3D cell cultures, High Content Screening (HCS), and single cell-omics. This core service provides an environment to learn new technologies and contribute to scientific servicing for the JAX research community.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and implement cell cultures for different platforms and maintain culture activities associated with the laboratory core.
- Assist Lab Manager on assay development, set up cell cultures, and support automation associated with cell screening.
- Prepare and manage cell culture for assay development, screening service, and customer projects.
- Document results, implement protocols from literature, troubleshoot and analyze variations, refine techniques, and adapt procedures.
- Plan and monitor resources, maintain inventory control, coordinate space, equipment, and facilities, and may monitor expenditures.
- Lead exchange of research information through demonstration and instruction; assist in training others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or related discipline.
- 0-2 years of directly related laboratory experience.
- Cell culture skills, including 2D and 3D cultures for 3D HCS.
- Demonstrated ability to develop research protocols.
- Ability to coordinate and conduct multiple concurrent assignments or multi‑faceted projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact productively and positively with all individuals.
- Understanding of good safety practices and a safe conduct history.
- Self‑motivated, able to organize time effectively, manage details, and maintain a proactive attitude.
- Ability to develop technical documents and presentations.
- Team player with professional, positive attitude and willingness to be flexible.
- Capacity to work flexible shifts (evening/weekend/holiday).
- Experience with human clinical sample handling and laboratory automation is a plus.
- Minimum:
Bachelor's degree. - Preferred:
Two years of experience.
$20.55 - $34.41 per hour, depending upon experience.
