CONTRACT TITLE
Research Associate
GENERAL DUTIESConducts academic research in connection with CUNY programs; may assist faculty, staff, and students in conducting research and lead research efforts involving others.
- Develops research plans and proposals and participates in acquiring funding
- Collects, analyzes, and assures validity of data
- Writes progress reports and publishes findings
- Collaborates with internal and external colleagues
- Adheres to standards for safety and hygiene and ethical conduct as defined by the University and relevant outside parties
- Uses Census-based micro‑data samples and other survey and administrative data sources to carry out statistical analysis of socioeconomic, demographic, educational, health, labor market, and other key issues facing Dominicans in the United States and abroad
- Conducts research that provides a historical, geographical, and comparative analysis of the Dominican diaspora within the context of various racial and ethnic groups in the U.S. and other countries
- Organizes and writes research reports and policy briefs based on the statistical analysis conducted by DSI
- Works with other DSI and CUNY researchers and scholars to establish a multidisciplinary, multicultural academic network that emphasizes scientific excellence and critical thinking
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in quantitative methods, social sciences (economics, sociology) or a related discipline
- Strong foundation in quantitative research methods
- Experience with statistical software such as Stata, SAS, and R
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to translate research findings for a general audience
- Demonstrated research ability
Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
