Description

The NYU Program of Nutrition at Steinhardt is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to support Dr. Andrea Glenn's research program in nutrition and cardiometabolic health. This position will provide comprehensive involvement in two funded research projects: (1) a community-based Food Is Medicine intervention designed to improve diet quality and blood pressure among adults with hypertension and (2) a metabolomics project to identify a plasma metabolomic signature of almond intake using samples from a dose-response randomized controlled feeding trial.

The Postdoctoral Associate will contribute to all aspects of the research, including study coordination, protocol implementation, data management, data analysis, student supervision, manuscript preparation, and dissemination of findings. The Postdoctoral Associate will devote 12 person‑months of effort to the projects, including Data Management and Sharing activities, data curation, and documentation.

Project Overview

This position will support two complementary projects within Dr. Glenn's research program.

The first project is a pilot study that will test a 6‑week, culturally tailored culinary nutrition program to improve diet quality and blood pressure among adults with hypertension using rapid‑cycle implementation, produce prescriptions, and behavioral strategies. The project includes collection of dietary, blood pressure, anthropometric, engagement, and implementation data, with an emphasis on feasibility, sustainability, and future scale‑up.

The second project examines the plasma metabolomic signature of almond intake using previously collected samples from a dose‑response randomized controlled feeding trial in adults with hyperlipidemia. This study will use metabolomics to identify an almond‑specific biomarker signature, examine dose‑response relationships, and relate metabolomic findings to cardiometabolic health.

Together, these projects offer a unique opportunity for a postdoctoral fellow interested in dietary interventions, food as medicine, implementation science, clinical and community nutrition, metabolomics, and cardiometabolic disease prevention.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Support the PI in all aspects of study design, protocol development, implementation, and coordination across both projects.
  • Assist with data collection and study operations for the hypertension community intervention, including coordination with community partners and support for in‑person assessments and program delivery.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis, including dietary, clinical, behavioral, implementation, and metabolomics data.
  • Support metabolomics‑related activities, including dataset preparation, statistical modeling, interpretation of metabolomic signatures, and integration with cardiometabolic outcomes.
  • Assist with Data Management and Sharing activities, including data curation, documentation, quality control, and compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements.
  • Lead and contribute to manuscript writing, conference abstracts, grant proposals, reports, and other dissemination products.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among investigators, research staff, trainees, and community partners.
  • Support supervision and mentoring of research assistants and student trainees involved in the projects.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, workshops, and other project‑related activities.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $62,500-$65,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.

Per NYU's remote‑work policy, this position is expected to be hybrid, with most days being in‑person and the option to work‑from‑home on occasion.

This position will be responsible for supervising up to 5 undergraduate and/or graduate students during their appointment.
