Biophotonics Application Scientist
What can you expect in the role of Biophotonics Application Scientist?
Work closely with TOPTICA sales to understand customer requirements and communicate TOPTICA's product advantages
Ensure successful demonstrations of TOPTICA lasers in customer labs: understand success criteria, coordinate logistics, perform system installations, and collect post-demo results
Prove that TOPTICA's lasers are compatible with cutting-edge microscopy techniques by implementing them on TOPTICA's in-house microscope, and work with sales & marketing to distribute results
Provide expertise during product demonstrations at tradeshow events and workshops
Participate as a member of the biophotonics community (particularly multiphoton microscopy/neuroscience and fluorescence microscopy): follow new publications, attend conferences, and network with researchers and customers
Leverage TOPTICA's North American Applications and R&D resources for fast engineering adaptations necessary to demonstrate laser capabilities in new applications
Collaborate with Product Management and R&D at TOPTICA's Munich headquarters, providing the North American customers' voice to drive product requirements and roadmap decisions
Must-haves:
What you'll need for this role?
Master's degree in Physics, Biophysics, Optics, or a related field (PhD preferred)
Hands-on experience with ultrafast lasers, including managing dispersion and nonlinear effects in downstream optics
Hands-on experience in biological imaging, particularly confocal and multiphoton microscopy
Strong ability to confidently communicate in-person and remotely, and to build and maintain customer relationships
Team-oriented, with a strong ability to identify customer problems and consult on solutions
Excellent presentation and writing skills; good time management, independent and self-starting
Outstanding computer and project management skills
What would be a plus in this role?
PhD in Physics, Biophysics, Optics, or a related field
