Neurological Surgery Description
A postdoctoral position is available at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The successful applicant will be working under the supervision of Dr. Brian Gill M.D., an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery.
Our team studies the crosstalk between tumor cells and neurons with a focus on how these interactions influence tumor growth, existing neural circuits, and neuroplasticity. Techniques employed in the lab include chemo genetic neuromodulation, murine mouse models, primary cell culture, human and murine ex‑vivo slice culture, microelectrode recordings, and in vivo imaging. We have existing collaborations with researchers in the Departments of Systems Biology, Neurology, Neuropathology and Neuroscience.
We are a well‑funded young laboratory interested in hiring highly motivated individuals with a strong interest in cancer biology, brain tumors, and neuroscience. Interested parties should have a doctoral degree with a background in neuroscience, cancer biology, molecular biology, or related fields. Prior experience with mouse surgeries, electrophysiologic techniques, microscopy and in vivo imaging is highly desired. Responsibilities will include managing projects, mouse colonies, interacting with other lab members and collaborators, assisting with shared lab responsibilities and mentoring junior lab members/students.
