Job Description

Google maintains a portfolio of research projects driven by fundamental research, new product innovation, product contribution, and infrastructure goals, while giving individuals and teams the freedom to emphasize specific types of work. As a Research Scientist, you will set up large‑scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, manage deadlines and deliverables, and apply the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies.

From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real‑world problems spanning machine learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, compiler improvements for mobile platforms, core search, and more.

You will also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects and collaborations with partner universities and technical institutes worldwide.

Google Research is building the next generation of intelligent systems for all Google products, collaborating closely with teams across Google to adapt new projects and foci that meet the demands of the world's fast‑paced business needs.

US: $207,000 - $301,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

Responsibilities
  • Author research papers to share and generate impact of research results across the organization and the research community.
  • Assist in research growth by sharing research trends and best practices within the community through reviewing academic papers and serving on program committees and grant panels.
  • Deliver large portions of a project by defining data structures, frameworks, design, and evaluation metrics for research solutions; identify timelines and obtain necessary resources.
  • Identify new and upcoming research areas by interacting with potential external and internal collaborators, and develop long‑term research strategy and plans to expand the impact of Google research.
  • Identify complex yet well‑defined problems or gaps in existing technology and engage stakeholders and leaders to address them.
